orfeotoolbox-stable ppa depends of libgeotiff packages in ubuntugis unstable
Mantis Issue 388, reported by mgrizonnet, assigned to jmalik, created: 2011-07-18
regarding last build logs of osgeo-live project 5.0, it seems that the installation of libotb using the stable ppa provokes the installation of libgeotiff1.2 package from ubuntugis-unstable ppa. Not sure if it's this is the normal behaviour (avoid perhap's the tiff/geotiff symbols conflicts...)

1310993577 - julienmThe current libgeotiff on natty is 1.2.5-1 (http://packages.ubuntu.com/natty/i386/libgeotiff1.2)
In ubuntugis-unstable, there is now the 1.3 version, with new package names (libgeotiff2 for the binary package). But they were also publishing a 1.2.5 package a while ago (source package : libgeotiff-dfsg - 1.2.5-4~natty1 ), which is now superseeded by the 1.3 version. So the binary package libgeotiff1.2 is still available on ubuntugis-unstable
-> logical behavior, though not expected...
the ubuntugis-unstable repo must have been installed by a script launched before the otb install script. removing this repo in the otb install script wll have no effect as the package will be upgraded later when an "apt-get update" is run after some ubuntugis-unstable package is installed.
I'm not sure if this is a problem: the otb packag
