Memory usage problems on Windows
Mantis Issue 997, reported by mgrizonnet, assigned to jmichel, created: 2014-12-22
Many users report memory usage issue with Monteverdi2 on Windows leading to crash of OTB applications (ITK exception "allocation failed") which obliges user to restart the software.
The high and anormal memory usage of Monteverdi2 have been demonstrate on some user platform with their memory monitor in parallel (more than 4Go in some case whithout any processing running in parallel). It does not come from the applications parameters or other manipulation as restarting the software and re-execute the application with the exact same parameters work fine.
Don't know yet from were it comes. It could come from memory leak in the OTB application engine (we've already correct memory leak there in the past) or also in the ICE visualization library or the way that Monteverdi2 use both third parties.
Anyway there is clearly something to investigate hear. I don't know yet the strategy as I don't have a clear and unique procedure to reproduce the issue.

Last time with covertiy it detects some mem leak that cannot be found by gcc. And it can be used without unit testing code as the case for Ice. If you need I can try setup a coverity build

Moving the issue to acknowledged
